3 Reasons You Aren't Ready For A Life Coach...

First let’s talk about the role of a Life Coach. Life coaches work with their clients to help them achieve goals, overcome obstacles and make changes or shifts in their lives. The coach works with the client, as a partner, knowing that the client ultimately has the answers to create the changes they seek. They are just in need of support, focus and accountability. Most people could certainly benefit from this type of coaching relationship, but it is absolutely not for everyone. Here are 3 reasons that you might night be an ideal candidate:

1.       You are content with the status quo.

You’ve experienced the unease of an unfulfilling life. You know it isn’t quite as good as it could be, but you’re not uncomfortable enough to commit to action.  You’re not happy with the current state of affairs, but you’re not willing to exert any effort to change them.

2.       You don’t see the value in the service and don’t want to pay.  As consumers, we pay for the things that we value. We have a budget for brunch, shoes, make up etc… but shy away from having a budget for personal development.  Life coaching is a significant part of that process. Life coaches are entrepreneurs that usher in huge transformational changes to your life. They literally add value by helping you go further than you would have gotten alone. And while the cost of coaching can and does vary, it is ultimately how life coaches make a living. As a life coach, I invest continually in my education, personal development, coaches and yes certifications.

3.       You don’t want to be held accountable. There is a significant different between dreaming and executing. After having done this work for several years, I’ve come to realize that there are people who simply don’t want to do the work. Instead they like to “talk” about the work. Progress requires effort and being accountable. It is much easier to be accountable to someone else than it is to be accountable to yourself. See, you will give yourself a pass to not finish a task when you don’t feel like it, where you will show up and put forth effort if you know someone else is checking in on your progress.

Can you imagine a football team without a coach? What would the team really be able to accomplish without that strategic leadership and support?Who would the players listen to…the defense or the offense? The coach is an essential piece to the puzzle, but keep in mind he or she isn’t on the field running plays. Instead he or she is on the sidelines providing motivation, oversight, clarity and direction. Making use of coaching is a powerful way to help you go further faster!!
