What is a life coach?

A life coach is a trained professional who aims to help and guide individuals to make, meet and exceed personal and professional goals. They support clients on a journey to rediscover their own strength and abilities: this can include obtaining life balance, home organization, excelling in the workplace, becoming happy and fulfilled at home, exploring your potential, managing competing priorities and achieving life ambitions.

By harnessing techniques based on core psychological principles and intuition, a life coach empowers the client and provides a toolkit of teachings to help them confidently face difficult challenges and overcome emotional barriers.

A life coach provides an objective and empowering environment, rather than instruction or indoctrination.

At the heart of it all lies the idea that clients must be given the power to help themselves.

What happens to during a coaching session?

My coaching sessions will typically last between 45 minutes and 60 minutes. After an initial clarity call, the sessions will be conducted either via a conference number by phone or via video conference (Zoom). I provide unlimited support via the Voxer app in between sessions.

During the session, I will ask you a number of questions, such as asking you to assess the current state of affairs in your life, what you want to achieve, what areas you're unhappy with and where you'd like to see yourself in the future. My process requires introspection, it’s up to you to challenge and/or reflect upon certain ideas you have that will help move you forward in your life. While I will never force you to make decisions that you don't feel comfortable with, I am going to push you out of your comfort zone. All of the sessions will be confidential, allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings privately in a safe space.

Life coaching is a partnership between you and I. I will encourage you to explore how to make positive changes in your life based on your aspirations. I will offer support and feedback to help you to stay focused on your goals and will occasionally give you tasks and objectives to work on outside of sessions.

How is life coaching different from counseling or therapy?

Life coaching focuses on forward motion and accountability, where as counseling and therapy tend to deal with past trauma and mental health diagnosis. I absolutely stay in my lane where my expertise resides. If during our discovery call, I determine that you have needs that I am unable to meet I will let you know immediately.
